Stewart Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard dedicated to growing high-quality grapes. The 27-acre property rises from the Chehalem Valley floor in the Ribbon Ridge AVA northwest of Newberg, Oregon. The vineyard features a variety of Pinot Noir clones and Chardonnay on rootstock grown for varied and fertile soil that has not been cultivated for over 100 years. Sustainable farming practices recognize the importance of terroir and the health and quality of the soil to the final product. Stewart Vineyard is seeking to verify it’s sustainability practices through the LIVE certification process. We are looking forward to developing future blocks of fruit on the site.
Grower / Owner
Gary Stewart is a fourth generation Oregon farmer with roots deep in the Willamette Valley. A long-time wine enthusiast, Gary is transitioning a career working with rural Northwest communities to developing a vineyard that produces premium fruit necessary to create the region’s top quality pinot noir. He’s happiest on the seat of a tractor.
Stewart Vineyard is managed under the expertise of Javier Marin, a talented vineyard manager with over 30 years of experience in Willamette Valley viticulture. Javier and his knowledgeable crew are skilled at coaxing the best fruit possible from the meticulously managed vines they planted and care for. Prior to establishing JM Vinegrowers, Javier was the long-time manager of the highly acclaimed Shea Vineyard in the Yamhill Carlton AVA.
You’ll find our 2018 grapes in bottles and barrels at Willful Wines, an urban winery in Portland. Winemaker/owner Pamela Walden ferments our carefully managed grapes using native, wild yeast and a minimum of new oak to focus on the fruit and produce the greatest expression of the terroir.
